January 07, 2019 - 2018 saw the launch of the Waller Sand Project. A new recreation area with a beach and play areas is being created at the turning basin in Überseestadt. January 07, 2019 - The street lighting in the fishing port is being modernised. Old mercury vapour lamps are being replaced by low-energy LED lights. This measure will not only vastly cut electricity costs, but will also help to mitigate climate change. MORE
January 07, 2019 - The BRIG, the start-up centre in the maritime city of Bremerhaven, will continue to receive funding. At its meeting on 19 September 2018, the state deputation for economic affairs, labour and ports decided to provide grants from 2018-2020.

January 07, 2019 - The Institute for Wind Energy Systems Bremerhaven can draw on wide-ranging expertise from a large number of rotor blade tests, and its unique testing infrastructure and sophisticated methodologies make it a world leader in the field. The aim of the project is to develop test methods to demonstrate the operational stability of future rotor blades, which will be very long and very elastic, in a scientific manner which also looks at commercial viability.
