Support for the Institute for Marine Resources (imare) – pilot phase

The new Institute for Marine Resources (imare), initially part of Bremerhaven University in the pilot phase, is intended to develop technological applications from basic research and to work with regional companies to turn them into products in co-operation with scientists from the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and Bremerhaven University.
imare regards itself as a bridge between ideas and innovations. The emphasis is on the development of marketable innovations. Various projects are already being implemented, such as AquaFAMOS, which uses modern online sensor technology for the environmental monitoring of aquacultures, bodies of water, and waste water. By safeguarding and creating jobs, imare is to make a substantial contribution towards improving the economic situation in Bremerhaven.
