MED-ADSORB II

Decentralised pre-cleaning of complex wastewater flows from health facilities

The project aims to develop, validate and establish a decentralised pre-cleaning of complex wastewater flows from health facilities.

It is to study the suitability of polymer adsorbers based on fossil and regenerative raw materials to serve as vectors to eliminate micro-pollutants – specifically pharmaceuticals and their biologically active metabolites. Working in cooperation with the Bremer Umweltinstitut and hanseWasser Bremen GmbH, the Chemisch?Technisches Laboratorium Luers GmbH & Co. KG aims to improve the quality of effluent in Bremen’s sewage works in Seehausen and Farge. Also, the intention is to comply with the priorities of the Water Framework Directive and cleanse the pharmaceuticals which have been categorised as a priority.

The project has been financed with funding from the European Union and the State of Bremen, the Senator for Climate Action, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development and Housing, under the Applied Environmental Research (AUF) funding programme.
